This is the plays well with matches Doll.
NAME: plays well with matches
DESIGNATION: First Group, #8
NOTES: plays well with matches was originally an experimental burn to test a procedure for burning that would prohibit a doll from melting in on itself. After several dousings of Everclear and a few dropped matches, I was satisfied that the process will work. That time it did not, however, because the plaster used inside the doll did not set properly. I was running out of plaster at the time, so I was struggling to stretch it out so the doll could be tested, and kept adding water to the bowl after the plaster was starting to warm (and set). The body of the doll and one of its legs was filled with gritty, unset plaster as a result. The unset plaster did manage to hold the body's form well, though, except for where the body warped (kinda neat!). The experiment tells me pretty much that a doll filled with properly set plaster will fully retain its original shaping in a burn. Then, the doll itself looked kinda neat after the experiment, making it doubly successful.
I suspect that plaster need not be used at all, and that I can probably fill parts with sand, damp or dry, which would then empty out without consequence.
