This is the Franken Doll.
NAME: Franken
DESIGNATION: First Group
NOTES: This piece is the second in a series of assemblages involving building dolls using unusual objects and themes.
This doll was fairly easy to assemble, but took great pains to 'figure out' how I wanted him to look. The first piece finished was the head, which was originally a very large head that I had to take a section from in order for it to not look megaphallic. You will likely notice the black seam in his head in the below pictures. This doll was painted with black acrylic on the inside to inhibit the natural translucency of doll flesh, which allows some light to illuminate the skin and give it a more lively look. I did not need this look, so Franken accordingly became a black-blooded flesh golem sort of thing.
This doll is fairly sturdy, with its only problems being that the nails used on its body may need adjustment if they slip out some, which is typical if the doll falls on the floor or some such. At that point in its creation, it was not feasible to bend the nails on the inside to limit such slippage. The hip joints are also a bit looser than I prefer, but I can remedy that later. For now, it displays and handles fine.
